book for the layman

I found thus book to be very general, but well laid out overview of a modern military. I enjoyed reading it. I learned what I was curious about without being buried under minutia. I feel like I can watch the news on various wars, and be able to understand some of the distances involved, and understand how various elements relate to each other in the military.
