Very cool on several different levels.

Have you ever run out of gin? I have and I learned on my own how to make instant fake gin using vodka and herbs. Little did I know that the real recipe was in this book. Very cool. Very useful. I'm not kidding! Page 127.

A lot of things have been banned over the 73 years since this book was first published. So what? You can make them yourself now. Want to make some absinthe? Page 122. How about your own cheesy fireworks? Page 278.

If you are going to try and project a total 1950s retro look, you are going to need mimeograph ink for the mimeo machine and you can't get that on Ebay; with this book you can make it yourself. Page 141.

So if you are doing a high school science project, or making homemade gin or need something for the 4th of July, this is the book for you.

You don't even have to like pearls (though, they are very tasteful.) This book is written for all those who feel they need more ideas for a little more elegance, confidence and beauty. Most of all, I hope they find encouragement that they too can live a beautiful life regardless of budget or circumstance.

Thought provoking, but frustrating

On the whole, this book contained a great deal of useful information, and did induce some thoughtful introspection. There were many points the author raised which I had simply not thought of before from an "elegant" perspective. For a simple example; wearing more than one pair of earrings at a time is distracting to others and, therefore, not elegant because an elegant woman does not draw attention to herself in such a negative way. That thought had never occurred to me. So, the book has provided some food for thought. My only complaints are that, while the author does state clearly in the introduction that the book is a printing of the information from her website, I have come to expect far more polish from a book. I think an editor would have been a great help. The book is full of grammatical errors (such as question marks at the end of declarative sentences), and also contains repetitive information. On a website page, one can just copy and paste information to another page relying on the idea that most people won't read each page and might otherwise miss the information. In book form, it becomes tedious to find oneself rereading the same information several times. In my opinion, most of the author's ideas are generally very well thought out and researched. The exception being her inexplicable encouraging of mothers to involve their little girls in something as shallow and potentially damaging as beauty contests. Otherwise, I found the book to be worth reading, but I would recommend doing it with a cautious eye.

This book was so much more than I expected, I have read countless books of similar titles, but this one surpasses them all by far. This book has beome invaluable to me. I would definitely recommended this book to any female.

Pretentionus. Full of grammatical errors. Information---nothing new.

First of all, this book is overpriced for a kindle she charges $21.66.

Second, the author exudes laziness. Her book is full of grammatical errors and lacking attention to details (have you heard of editing?)

Third, her point is extremely focused on superficiality (dress this way, act like this.. etc.) and lacking the nescessary concept of achieving inner peace and genuine self confidence.

Finally, she is obsessed to mimic someone else (namely Audrey Hepburn) instead of finding out happiness by being herself. It is a grievous advice to young women who are already bombarded by beauty ads.

This author is just another greedy person and sadly-- pretentious!

Provides insight into classical electromagnetic theory through geometric algebra

This practical book promotes the understanding of geometric algebra as a straightforward mathematical toolset for both working with and appreciating the fundamentals of electromagnetic theory. Taking a non-axiomatic, less formal tutorial approach, the text introduces new ideas gradually and goes into considerable detail in giving explanations and working out equations.

After an introduction to geometric algebra, the book shows how to apply it to some basic concepts. Then, the essential toolset is developed, allowing for the application of geometric algebra more generally—for example, in any dimension of space. After applying the toolset to fundamental electromagnetics in the usual (3+1)D situation where space and time are separate entities, the book prepares the ground for a full 4D treatment in which they are treated equally as spacetime vectors. Through geometric algebra, the reader will discover how to tackle the electromagnetic theory of moving charges in a systematic yet uncomplicated way.

In later chapters, the book provides a self-contained primer on the spacetime approach that seeks to avoid the usual conceptual difficulties of special relativity. While this involves some intriguing subtleties, its application is straightforward and readers will see how the toolset unifies previously separate ideas under a single theme: Coulomb's Law + Spacetime = Σ Classical Electromagnetic Theory. The electromagnetic field of an accelerating charge is worked through in detail to show how the toolset is applied.

Most chapters include exercises. There are figures and tables with detailed captions as well as various appendices that offer explanatory information and background material. In particular, a glossary provides an at-a-glance explanation of key terms and symbols.

About the Author
JOHN W. ARTHUR earned his PhD from Edinburgh University in 1974 for research into light scattering in crystals. He has been involved in academic research, the microelectronics industry, and corporate R&D. Dr. Arthur has published various research papers in acclaimed journals, including IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine. His 2008 paper entitled "The Fundamentals of Electromagnetic Theory Revisited" received the 2010 IEEE Donald G. Fink Prize for Best Tutorial Paper. A senior member of the IEEE, Dr. Arthur was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the United Kingdom's Royal Academy of Engineering in 2002. He is currently an honorary fellow in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.

Great read for beginners

The story kept my daughter very interested from start to finish. I have found that this is a big key to help my daughter read. When she loses interest it's very hard to get her into it.
Illustrations are great and the zoom of the text is fun for her. I believe we will buy many more books of the Biscuit Series.
